What to Wear: World Cup 2014

Wherever you choose to watch the World Cup games this year, be it at a bar or on a friend's couch, you'll want to look cute while representing your country. Here are some ideas for getting ready for the big games!

Forever 21 Stars and Stripes Knotted Hairband, $4.80

Luckily, the American Pride trend is in full swing now, with everything from bikinis to jewelry being printed with the stars and stripes of the US flag. We can only expect more items of red, white and blue to appear in stores with July 4th coming up. Now is the perfect time to stock up on your US pride apparel. Amp up your patriotism even more with accessories printed with your own country's flag.

Nail Art

Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Amborio represented her home country with amazing nail art in this photo that she shared on Instagram. You can easily recreate the look yourself, or at your favorite nail salon. Personally, I prefer using Essie nail color; at around $8.50 a bottle, it's affordable, goes on smoothly, and comes in a wide range of pretty colors. You can use painter's tape that you cut and put on your nails to block off sections that you want to paint a different color. Finish it off with a shiny top coat. I like Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel Top Coat, which gives a gel-like appearance.

Mexico 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil (TM)
Women's Number 20 T-Shirt (Red), $28.99

FIFA World Cup has a large variety of official apparel for every country. Choose from jerseys, t-shirts, scarves, bracelets, watches, and more. They have also released wall decals and framed prints to decorate your home with during the games!

havaianas TEAM II collection, $26 each

One way to rock your home country pride all summer is with comfy footwear. Havaianas have long been the favored flip-flop, and now there's a country collection released just in time for the World Cup. They are also available at Macys.com.

Choose from 14 different countries!

International Countries Snapback Hat, $18.10

This snapback from Go Jane is perfect for a sporty girl, or hey, hiding frizzy hair (humidity sucks)! Wear it to backyard World Cup watch parties, and all summer long while lounging poolside.

Choose from Mexico, USA, Brasil, España, Argentina, England, France, and Italia.

Mexican Beauty: Pai Pai

I discovered these beautifully packaged products on Vogue Mexico's instagram. Pai Pai is a cosmetics company inspired by the love of mexico, "art and beauty fused in one product" ("el arte y la belleza fusionado en un producto"). Not only is the packaging ridiculously gorgeous, but the colors of lipstick are bright, beautiful, and perfect for summer. "Orquídea" is an on-trend fuschia color, and "Cocada Rosa" is a vibrant shade of pink.

For now, there are only lipsticks avaible, but I'm anxious to see what they would do with a wider range of products.

Pai Pai products are available for purchase in Kichink.com. They are well priced at $14.77, but since I live in the states, I was charged around $28 for shipping (yikes!). However, the colors and the cases are so stunning, it will be hard not to make the investment!

Miami Report: Ramona La Rue

I was fortunate enough to spend New Year's with my boyfriend's family in Miami. Everything was great - the weather, the beach, the bars, the awesome Cuban food and coffee my boyfriend's parents made, and of course, window shopping at the many boutiques! Yes, just window shopping... the only thing I brought back with me from Miami was a great candy that Cubans eat during Christmas time called Turrón de Jijona, an almond nougat candy.

While window shopping at Coconut Grove, I was drawn in to one shop by a gorgeous, floor-length, olive-colored silky gown on a mannequin in front of the door. I found myself wandering into the Ramona la Rue shop by Arianne. I was immediately impressed by the chic pieces with beautiful prints on silky fabrics. The friendly sales associate welcomed me and explained that the prints were first hand painted by the designer herself, Arianne Brown, then transferred onto the fabrics. Many of the pieces had a relaxed feel to them, great for wearing on vacation or even dressed up for hot nights out in Miami. A visit to the shop's Facebook page revealed that actress Gabrielle Union is a fan.

If you are heading on a tropical vacation, or are lucky enough to live somewhere warm enough to wear these elegant pieces, I suggest you stop by the Ramona La Rue store or visit ramonalarue.com.

Born to be Wild

Born to be Wild

I was inspired to create this Polyvore set by the campaign for Ralph Lauren's Denim & Supply line, available at Macy's department store and online at Macy's.com. The line is younger, with a sort of americana/rock n' roll feel. Graphic tees, military style jackets, and distressed denim are staples of the label.

Ariel

Ariel

My favorite Disney movie still serves as inspiration to me today. I'm not ashamed to admit it! Mermaids are awesome. They're magical and beautiful. I created this Polyvore set thinking of how a mermaid would dress on land. Also, I think it's the cutest thing in the world that my boyfriend convinced his daughter that I am in fact, Ariel, a real-life mermaid. I suppose I should start dressing the part?

Mod for Fall

Mod for Fall

The classics: record players, Coca-Cola, a black turtleneck. I love pops of red in any form - in an article of clothing, an accessory, or as a lip shade. Redheads can't wear red? Pfffft.

Fast & Furious

Fast & Furious

Gal Gadot is my girl crush. In Fast and Furious, she doesn't look like she could kick your ass, but she makes up for it with major attitude and weapons. I like how functional her wardrobe is for the movie. She looks effortlessly cool, and she's naturally gorgeous. She was Miss Israel 2004, after all!

Colombia Report: Studio F & ELA

Finally got my hands on some foreign fashion.. This past summer I went to Cali, Colombia with two of my good friends. Cali has AMAZING shopping malls. They are all roof-less, allowing the strong, South American sun to shine down on happy shoppers and the palm trees to grow up towards the sky from beautiful mini courtyards inside the shopping centers. They have a full range of stores, from supermarkets to Carolina Herrera, some selling American brands and some 100% Colombiana. Some of my favorite stores to shop at there are Studio F and ELA, which I was told are owned by the same company. Someday soon I'll post the items I bought, but for now I have some photos from the Fall 2011 Studio F lookbook and catalog. Unfortunately, neither store has made online shopping available, with the exception of gift cards. So, you'll just have to make the trip!
